PRINCIPAL
I am pleased to reflect on the significant progress our school has made since 2012, when I joined as Principal. In 2025, our school became one of the top schools in the Durban Metropolitan area and KwaZulu-Natal, thanks to our outstanding 2024 Matric results.
I wish to extend my gratitude to the School Governing Body and staff from 2012 to 2024 for their unwavering support in managing the school and achieving our vision and mission.
From 2012 to 2017, we improved school management and infrastructure, moving from an underperforming bracket in 2016. We increased enrolment from 450 to 700 learners and introduced four new subjects in 2015. We also admitted learners who wanted to repeat Grade 12 to give them a second chance.
From 2017 to 2024, we introduced three new subjects, improved our Matric results from 69% to 91.5%, and created new learning spaces. We also introduced a new school uniform.
2025 marks the year we review and revise our school’s vision and mission. Our proposed new vision and mission statement for 2026-2030 and beyond is:

To become a nationally and internationally recognized school for academic excellence and extracurricular achievements
Mission 2026-2030:
To produce learners who are competitive in academics and extracurricular activities, preparing them for national and international labour markets and tertiary education.
In conclusion, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders, parents, and learners for their unwavering support and participation in our school’s journey. Your contributions have been invaluable, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in achieving even greater heights. Thank you.
Miss Z.P.P. Langa
DEPUTY PRINCIPAL - ADMINISTRATION
Miss Langa joined Phambili High School in 2013 as the departmental head for Maths and Science department and was later promoted to Deputy Principal in 2022. She was part of the school Management Team that turned the school around from an underperforming school to a top performing school.
She is in charge of all the administration in the school, learner admission, learner attendance, NSNP programme and other duties. She ensures that the culture of teaching and learning is maintained and works closely with the principal to ensure smooth running of the school.

PHAMBILI HIGH SCHOOL is deeply committed to the academic excellence, emotional and social development of every learner entrusted to our care. As deputy principal I am proud to work alongside the Principal, the School Management Team and a team of educators who are dedicated to upholding the highest standard of excellence in everything we do. All this, while fostering a school environment rooted in respect, inclusion and full of opportunities.
Academic performance remains one of our core priorities. We strive to provide a rigorous and relevant learning programmes within our curriculum that challenges our learners to think critically, engage deeply and excel consistently, through innovative teaching methods which integrate technology. We aim to nurture a culture of curiosity and creativity –one that prepares our learners not only for their final examinations; but also to adapt, thrive and lead in rapidly changing world.
Transparency and accountability are cornerstones of our leadership approach, we believe in open communication with our learners, parents and the neighbouring community through feedback so that we continuously reflect on our practices to ensure we are meeting the evolving needs of our learners.
This is aimed at developing a well–rounded, socially responsible, resilient and skilled learners who are not only academically prepared but also emotionally intelligent and ethically grounded who will make meaningful contribution to our society, both now and in the future.
